Ravix Dupervil Hamlet Video

Ravix Dupervil

English 12 cp period: 1

Ryan Ghallgher

“To be or not to be”

Branaugh version portrayed Hamlet the best because he spoke very softly which makes the audience pay closer attention so that we can hear every word that is said and everything in the video made sense, he is in the right place where it seems to be more appropriate due to the mansion, gigantic mirrors and marble floor in a very polished place. This version of hamlet show a lot more thought and emotion in his speech which made the acting much more believable. The video starts off Hamlet looking at himself in a large mirror which is very interesting how the camera is filming the mirror instead of the real actor, i think the mirror represent life or The mirror plays on hamlet insanity, confirming that he is not afraid to kill himself and is not afraid to see himself of what he has become. The camera angles that was chosen in this version was very good and effective, the camera start out being still and as hamlet is speaking it gets closer to to the mirror and With him looking into the mirror it is almost like he is visualizing himself doing the deed of killing his uncle or himself, later on Hamlet pulls out his dagger with such speed and force like he is about to do something with it. This also ends up scaring Polonius and Claudius who are in this version watching him behind the mirror, he points it toward the mirror as if he is going to kill himself or perhaps to hamlet he does not see a reflection of himself but a reflection of claudius as if he is going to kill him. Whats very interesting in the video is that the director chooses to put Claudius behind this two-way mirror so that he sees the dagger being pulled out towards him. Also, the mirror between Claudius and Hamlet seems to signify some sort of barrier that is stopping Hamlet from completing the murder. Hamlet is very unsure of himself in this soliloquy he consider whether he should commit suicide or seek revenge for his father’s death. The idea of suicide and death is an important theme in all of William Shakespeare's books.. This soliloquy is a summation of all of Hamlet's emotions throughout the play. In his speech his character is clearly shown that he is insane and shows that he thinks too much, he plans to kill claudius, but does not because he says "Whether it be Bestial oblivion, or some craven scruple of thinking too precisely on th'event -A thought which quartered hath but one part wisdom And ever three parts coward -I do not know Why yet I live to say this things to do" (4, 4, 39-44). He sees himself as being a coward or over thinking his actions for not killing Claudius when he had the chance to but he did not do it, also he is unsure and confused on whether he should commit suicide or not to endure all of these pains because he thinks that if he chooses death and kill himself all his pain and heartaches would end. he doesn't know how to go about this revenge and that maybe it would be better just to die then he would not have to worry about Claudius or any other aspect in his life that bothers or causes him stress With the death of his farther and the hasty remarriage of his mother to his uncle, which causes Hamlet into a frustrated state were he lashes out at evil he sees and then relapse into a suicidal misery. But the only thing that is keeping him from death is what lies behind death "dread of something after death, The undiscovered country from whose bourn No traveller returns, puzzles the will" (3, 1, 78-80) he wonders about the nature of his death and thinks for a moment that it may be like a deep sleep, which seems at first to be acceptable until he speculates on what will come in such a deep sleep in which could be more nightmares and more suffering. When we die we go someplace where we are not familiar of and join people whom we are not familiar with. He believes that life is synonymous with suffering. The "whips and scorn of time, Th'oppressor's wrong, the proud man's contumely, The pangs of disprized love, the law's delay, The insolence of office, and the spurns That patient merit of th'unworthy takes" (3, 1, 70-74) are all the sufferinghe sees in life.

The Stranger Part 1

The Stranger Part 1

In the passage when Raymond went back to look for the Arab mans for revenge and this time he has a gun and it was a very hot day including to the protagonist and the narrator of the story Meursault. Albert Camus suggest that human life has no purpose. And the only certain thing in life is death because all human will eventually meet death and lives are meaningless to where Raymond almost killed the Arab Mas as the sun beating down on Meursault

the protagonist, Meursault is a very emotionless guy who simply does not care about anything in the world. And its very surprising when we see the protagonist trying to calm Raymond down from doing something he would regret by shooting the Arab man. And luckily for the Arab man they were able to run away all thanks to an emotionless guy witch is very ironic that Meursault tried saving their lives.

In the passage Meursault starts walking on the beach by himself. The heat and the glare of the sun strike him like it did on the day of his mom funeral when he showed no emotions. And we can see that the sun is an important symbol in this book witch comes up in the most important passage. “My head ringing from the sun....” (pg. 57). the Author consistently uses the sun as a tool to represent the antagonism in the Novel.

In the Novel the sun plays around with Meursault emotions making him not care about anything such as when his mom died and when Marie told him that she loved him and he did not care. But at the same time Meursault is also honest witch means he does not think of hiding his lack of feeling by shedding false tears over his mother death witch can probably effect his life later on in this chapter.

A Child Who Called “It”

A Child Who Called “It”

In Dave Pelzer's memoir A Child Called “It” the antagonist, “Mother” is evil for abusing her own loving child. Dave faced emotional and physical abuse from his mother but managed to overcome his situation. “in the years before I was abused, my family was the “Brady Bunch” of the 1960's”. When Dave was young he was a boy “blessed” with a loving and perfect parents. His mother loved him, they would go on vacations and adventures together. These were distant memories of Dave's “Childhood” until he was 4 years old his relationship with his mother has changed. A loving caring mother that once loved her son so very much, turned into the sick devil.

His mother was so evil that she would not give her son food and make him fight hunger. His mother would play “games” with him in order for Dave to survive. She treated him like a dog. As time goes on she becomes more abusive and evil, inventing more and more horrible “games” to play with Dave. Her favorite game was the gas chamber, where she mixes a bucket of ammonia and Clorox and locks him in the bathroom to breath in the mixture. She also played other games from waiving a knife to his face. The most evil thing she did in the book was that she stabbed him in the chest, after that his mother did not consider him as a son but a slave and no longer a boy, an “It”. His mom made him stand in the garage all day until he was order to do chores or go to bed. He was no longer allowed to eat or play with his brothers. And she made him go to bed and go to school with the same clothes every day.

“ i hate you I wish you were dead!”. Mother is very cruel and she frighten the whole family, she even frighten her own husband. Because Dave's father did not have courage to help him, he was afraid that his wife will hurt him as well because she was so evil. Dave's mother behavior began to worsen especially when Dave's father started to work 24-hour shifts. Dave went through so much hell with his mother, and there was nothing he could have done about it because he knew if he told, it will only get worse. His mom had no rights or purpose to abuse her son like that.

The beginning of this novel is the ending. Dave was saved by a police officer. During school Dave was sent to the nurse. She examined his body. She found many bruises. Dave tried to lie about it saying he got his by a bat, but he ended up telling her the truth. Dave was taken to the police station, the officer called his mom and told her Dave was in custody. Dave telling the nurse how his mom abuse him is the climax in the story

College Essay

Hi, my name is Ravix Dupervil and I am from Haiti. I think myself as a kind, nice and very honest person and I am always respectful to any adult that respect me back. The most memorable moment in my life is when my mom told me she loves me for the first time. the most important thing in my life is my mom and my little brother, i love them so much those two special person means the world to me. the one thing that is missing in my life is my father its been more then 5 years since i havent seen him or talk to him. My mother is the most influenced person in my life. She is a blessing from almighty God. God couldn't be everywhere at once, so He created mothers. She posses the gift of birth she is the door to all life. My mom expresses her love selflessly. She continually gives, caring for me, encouraging me daily, weekly, monthly, yearly until the day she can serve me no more. The only thing that would stop her from loving me so much is death. My mom has set great examples in my life. Because of her lover I learn to love myself and other people that I care about. She pushes me out into the world. Her love is perfect and the tears she sheds are many. We can never understand although we see her tears. If I could taste her tears it would be an exciting flavor of joy, pain, hurt and especially struggle. She deserves admiration and appreciation. She is a tough independent woman who has always moved forward and kept my family together. She had always been there for me during my entire life, she taught me not to pretend to be someone I am not, taught me how to be kind and respectful to other people. I remember I once brought something for my mom, she hanged it in her room and it felt to me like one of the few bonds between us. My mom moved to U.S five years ago and been a nurse assistant her whole life who would be describe as a hero because ever since 5 years she took care of me and little brother without the help of my dad who decided to live by himself.
One person I regret having in my life is my dad. When I use to live in Haiti my mom and my dad would always fight everyday. And i watched in horror as dad cheated on mom until the divorce came. The after me and my mom and my little brother who was 8 years old back moved to U.S and since then I never seen my dad again. The scars still hurt occasionally knowing that I would never see my dad again. I don’t believe in looking back other than focus on where I’m going in life, I refuse to look back with regret, because I know I can’t change anything now, and I choose to be happy with what I have.

The Plum Plum Pickers

In the story, Raymond Barrio suggest that people can give others courage and be a hero. The author uses Manuel, the main character of the story to show that we should and can stick up for what we thing is right. In the story Manuel is described as a hero and having a lot of courage for standing up to himself and standing up for the other Mexican pickers as well. The author also describe Manuel as a leader and we should be all like him.

The story is about a group of Mexican migrant workers laboring in the fields of California. The workers works for long, hard hours for little payment, little break time and no respect. In the first paragraph of the story the author mentions “the jails of hell” this describe how the workers are struggling and it feels like hell. Also in the first paragraph the author constant use of words like “brute, wreck” those words are referring to the sun and the effect it has bearing down on the workers, that is one reason why the story takes place in California.

The imagery on the story not only helps clear a mood in the first paragraph but it also develops a conclusion about the characters such as the use of words like “beast, predator” make the workers feel as animals and they have no concept of what is human because the way they are struggling and the way they are being force to work long hours and little break time such as the second paragraph, the author wrote “lunch” as one paragraph because the author is trying to explain to the audience how short their break time is. And also in the second paragraph the author gives a lot of information about Manuel relaxing witch means they have been working for hours and no break time. With so many struggling and long hours of work in this case the author can also suggest how money is very important to them and to some people in life and how people would do anything to get money such as working and struggling for long hours.

The main characters name is Manuel witch can be interpreted a representation of “Man” or “Manual” that is involve with farm working. Another character in the story is Roberto Morales who is in charge and the boss in the field. In the story Morales is described as “ a gentlemanly, friendly, polite, grinning, vicious, thieving brute....” that sentence goes from being nice to being mean witch shows how Roberto is a fake and the bad guy. He comes in the story smiling and acting nicely to everyone but what he really wanted was their money. His last name “Morales” says it all which comes out to sound the real word the author wanted to write “Moral Less”

the main situation that proves how Manuel is the hero that saves other pickers from Morales greediness is when Morales comes to take “Two cents” from everybody buckets. Manuel steps in and purposely kicked everyone's buckets. Manuel had showed strength and courage making it clear to Morales and the other workers how brave he is. After trying to show bravery and being a hero, Manuel felt like a “winner” Manuel reflects that there would have to be some kind of punishment, but he knew from now on he would be looked at as a human being rather than an animal or a machine they thought he was. Again the author suggest that people can force other people to do stuff by giving them courage and confidence and that people should stand up for themselves and stop being treated like an animal.
